The Basic Accident and Sickness plan that the company provides to employees under Article 18, section 4 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) covers 50% of an employee's base wage. To make up the difference in pay while out of work due to a non-work related injury or illness, the BMDA has joined the Union Workers Benefit Trust (UWBT) to offer supplemental disability insurance plans. The UWBT has been offering and administering voluntary supplemental disability benefits for our Sisters and Brothers in Local S6 and Local S7 for over 20 years. There are currently two separate plans available, one to cover short term disability benefits and one to cover long term disability benefits. Both plans are through The Hartford Company and details are provided in the attachments below.

To initiate you Supplemental Disability Insurance claim with The Hartford, call 1-866-945-7781. Please tell them you are from BMDA at Bath Iron Works. The Hartford fax number is 1-866-411-5613.

New employees have 30 days to sign up for the plans, otherwise the normal enrollment period is August 15th through September 30th.
