Puerto Rico CAP Holds Triennial Elections
Today, our Puerto Rico CAP held its triennial elections for leadership roles. Members thanked outgoing CAP Chair Mayra Munoz for her leadership and unanimously elected Noe Diaz to be the incoming CAP chair. Congratulations to the new officers, who were sworn in by Region 9A Director Brandon Mancilla.
Earlier this year, members in Puerto Rico rallied together outside PROMESA, calling on La Junta to treat our UAW members right. In the time since, our Comedores Escolares Local 2396 won major wage increases for the majority of the unit due to a sustained campaign.
And now, La Junta is trying to go back on the deal that Local 2396 agreed to with the Department of Education. The fight on the island against austerity continues, and our members in both the public and private sectors will continue to push back.
