WOAW Strikers Rally with UAW President Shawn Fain & AFA-CWA President Sara Nelson at Wellesley

UAW President Shawn Fain joined the Wellesley Organized Academic Workers (WOAW-UAW) on strike for a rally at the picket line on April 1. “No matter what sector we bargain in, it’s the same issue—the bosses don’t want to share,” he told the crowd.
Sara Nelson, president of the Association of Flight Attendants, spoke at the picket line, as well as Region 9A Director Brandon Mancilla, who told the crowd, "We are here to fight for fairness and justice for all workers at Wellesley."
Members of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, the Framingham-Newton Building Trades Council, Pipefitters Local 537, the Boston Teachers’ Union, IATSE, and more were in attendance. UPS drivers unionized with the Teamsters have also paused deliveries to the Mail Center for the duration of the strike.
State Senator Lydia Edwards, who was a member of UAW Local 2320 before being elected to office, made her second appearance on the WOAW picket line after speaking to the strikers last week.
