On Tuesday, UAW’s own Claire Valdez won the Democratic primary for Assembly District 37 in Queens—which means she’s headed to Albany to represent New York workers and fight for the working class as our Assemblymember.

When billionaires poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into this race, UAW members and our allies showed up. With countless canvassing shifts, phone banks, and member-to-member conversations, we showed that when we organize and fight, we win. As a result, Claire earned a resounding 58% of the vote to her opponents’ 31% and 10%.

We know Claire will be a champion for strong unions, affordable housing, universal childcare, and everything New Yorkers need to thrive.

Congratulations to our UAW Local 2110 sister and future New York Assemblymember Claire Valdez!
