Professor Maheen Haider is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and recently received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Boston College. She is a former BCGEU-UAW member. As part of UAW Region 9A Civil and Human Rights Council's work and commitment to racial and social justice, in recognition of the month of Ramadan, UAW 9A Service Rep Mikayla Robinson and Professor Haider discussed contemporary Muslim life in America, exploring questions including what does Ramadan mean to you, in what ways has the pandemic impacted how people celebrate Ramadan? What has your experience been like in the US as a person who is a Muslim immigrant and what are some changes you would like to see in US workplaces?
