On May 25, 113 members at UAW Local 376 at Times Microwave ratified their new CBA with 96% approval. This agreement puts an estimated $6.2 million into our members’ pockets. Highlights include:

  • $2.5 million in general wage increases.
  • A progression to end tiers providing members a path to top wages, estimated to put $3.5 million in some of our lowest-paid members’ pockets.
  • Increased 401K and retirement security.
  • Essential safety shoes allowance.
  • Excitingly, this contract will expire in time for May Day 2028, following the call of our international union.

In addition, UAW Local 1596 members at Boyd Manufacturing in Woburn, Massachusetts, voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new four-year contract, marking a significant milestone in labor relations with the company. With an astounding 99% majority vote, the ratification of this agreement heralds a new era with Boyd, where members have been represented by the UAW for nearly 60 years.

Central to the agreement are substantial wage increases over the contract’s duration. Members will enjoy a 5% general wage increase in the first year, followed by 4% raises in each of the subsequent two years, and a 3% increase in the fourth year. Moreover, there is potential for an additional 5.5% wage increase based on meeting attendance and production goals.

In addition to competitive wage increments, the contract introduces a slew of enhanced benefits aimed at improving the overall well-being and satisfaction of the workforce. Members will benefit from additional paid holidays, increased vacation time, and expanded sick and personal leave allowances. Notably, the elimination of monthly accrual will grant members immediate access to all accrued time at the start of each year, affording greater flexibility and control over their own schedules.

Recognizing the importance of financial security, the contract includes provisions for bolstering employee retirement plans. A notable highlight is the increase in the company’s 401K contributions, empowering members to save more effectively for their future. Furthermore, the employer-paid life insurance provision underscores the union’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its members and their families.

The agreement also acknowledges the importance of member representation and safety in the workplace. Additional steward positions have been recognized, providing enhanced representation on the floor, while the expansion of the safety committee ensures a stronger voice for member concerns aimed at promoting a secure and healthy work environment.

By prioritizing fair compensation, enhanced benefits, and empowering initiatives, the Boyd bargaining team has fostered a workplace culture of respect, prosperity, and collective achievement. Congratulations on a job well done!
