At 2:20 AM on Thursday after 17 straight hours of bargaining (and two practice pickets), the Bronx Defenders Union’s bargaining committee reached a tentative agreement with management. The tentative agreement includes:

✅ 8-10% salary increases.
✅ A 2-year contract term with the right to strike for wages after 1 year in line with ALAA’s sectoral bargaining strategy.
✅ A fair, flexible telecommuting policy.
✅ A free speech provision.

Earlier in the week, PEN America United also reached a tentative agreement for their first contract as members of NOLSW. This milestone comes after 21 months of bargaining, and nearly two weeks after 100% of voting members authorized an unfair labor practice strike.

Congratulations to the BxD Union (ALAA 2325) and PEN America United (NOLSW 2320) on their hard work to reach these agreements, which the members will soon vote on!
