Alamo Drafthouse Workers Fight Back Against Layoffs & Bad Faith Bargaining

Local 2179 members filed unfair labor practice charges with the NLRB against their employer Alamo Drafthouse and parent company Sony Pictures Entertainment, citing their refusal to respond to information requests and alleging bad faith bargaining. After abruptly declaring an impasse, Alamo announced it was laying off 70 workers instead of negotiating with the union over a reduction of hours.
In response, the union and community supporters leafletted both locations on Monday and Tuesday, protesting the layoffs and promising that “we will fight corporate greed until victory.” Local 2179 members are asking supporters to write emails to Alamo’s management to oppose these unjust layoffs.
