NYC CAP Announces Fourth Round of 2026 Endorsements

With our fourth round of endorsements in this 2026 cycle, UAW Region 9A has endorsed additional candidates for U.S. Congress, the New York Senate, and the New York Assembly.
For New York’s 12th Congressional district, UAW endorses Alex Bores based on his longstanding support for labor rights and fighting for working New Yorkers as an Assembly Member.
“Alex Bores has stood with UAW members without hesitation,” said Brandon Mancilla, Director of UAW Region 9A. “He has walked our picket lines, knows our battles, and has fought for our issues in Albany. In Congress, he will be a leader on regulating AI and passing Medicare for All. And he’ll fight for our members to protect them against cuts to federal funding. We need leaders in Washington who understand what is at stake for working people in this economy.”
For the New York State Senate and Assembly, UAW endorses the following candidates:
- Aber Kawas, Senate District 12
- Andrew Gounardes, Senate District 26
- Tunisia Morrison, Assembly District 32
- Catalina Cruz, Assembly District 39
- Manny de los Santos, Assembly District 72
“We are excited to continue our work in Albany alongside these endorsed candidates to win and secure top UAW priorities such as universal childcare, temporary disability insurance reform, unemployment insurance for university workers, and taxing the rich so everyone pays their fair share,” said Mancilla.
The Democratic primaries will be held on June 23, 2026. These endorsement decisions were made through a member-led process and made by member-leaders of our region's New York City Area CAP Council. Members can see all of UAW Region 9A’s 2026 endorsements so far at region9a.uaw.org/cap.
