The labor movement took center stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week. Unions are getting the message out that in order to keep building working class power and raise our standards of living, we need to defeat Donald Trump and elect Kamala Harris president in November. Union members made up 20% of all delegates to the 2024 DNC.

The first night of the convention opened with national labor leaders explaining how union members across the country are mobilizing against Project 2025 and the anti-worker Trump agenda. UAW President Shawn Fain entered the Meme Hall of Fame while unveiling his GOTV outfit—watch his now-famous “Trump is a scab” speech that also put Stellantis on notice. Region 9A Director Brandon Mancilla and Region 6 Director Mike Miller also joined in support of activists from around the country at Wednesday’s #NotAnotherBomb press conference. The UAW also called for the Democratic Party to allow a Palestinian American to speak from the Democratic National Convention stage on Thursday.

On Thursday, UAW members from across the country who were in Chicago for the DNC showed up in solidarity with our Local 1268 siblings in Belvidere, Illinois, for an update on the UAW’s strikable grievances against Stellantis for its refusal to #KeepThePromise and reopen Belvidere Assembly.
