What we're demanding is not a financial burden on the university. PFL is paid for by employee deductions and will allow NYU adjunct faculty to take time to care for new children and other family members without losing our jobs—something that's impossible for us at present. What we are calling for simply is decency and respect for the dedicated, hard-working faculty who teach a plurality of classes of at NYU.
