MDA-UAW Tick Tock Rally with UAW President Shawn Fain

The Marine Draftsmen’s Association (Local 571) at General Dynamics-Electric Boat in Groton is running an inspiring contract campaign. Continuing the work of UAW members at the Big 3, Daimler Truck, and Rolls Royce, MDA has been ratcheting up the pressure on their employer with the goal of winning a record contract with COLA, pensions for all, and real profit sharing.

The bargaining committee activated over 60 local shop-floor councilors to join the open bargaining process and has been keeping the membership informed through daily video and written updates on Facebook. Instead of discussing the union's key demands, Electric Boat proposed creating a new third tier for pensions, which the union rejected. MDA members are now working under an expired contract and preparing for a strike while bargaining continues.

After our strike authorization vote from 1 to 4:30 PM, UAW President Shawn Fain will join MDA members to tell Electric Boat tick tock, it's our time! Other special guests will include Local 3999 members joining us from Bath Iron Works in Maine. Those who can't join in person can watch via Facebook Live.

Parking is limited at the Mystic Marriott. Shuttles will be available from Fitch High School to the Mystic Marriott between 3:30 and 8 PM.
