2019 Richard 'Dik' Days Scholarship now available to CT residents

In the spirit of Brother Richard “Dik” Days’ impact on our communities at large, we are proud to offer this year’s scholarship. We will provide financial assistance to Connecticut residents who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program. Currently we award $1,000 to two students who submit a completed application. The students’ references, financial need, and primarily the substance of their essay contribute to us making a final decision as to who will be awarded a scholarship. Our scholarship is not predicated on area of studies, therefore it can be used where needed.

The Richard “Dik” Days Scholarship Fund was created through UAW Region 9A and The Coalition of Black Trade Unionist (CBTU) Connecticut Chapter in collaboration with the Days family in 2010. Richard Adam ‘Dik’ Days was a labor educator for the UAW.  Prior to his retirement he was the Education & Civil Rights Director for the UAW Region 9A.  He was a rigorous trade unionist, political activist and community advocate. Brother Days had an impact on many lives and helped us better understand our role in the Union and the communities in which we serve.

Please find the application and instructions attached. Completed applications must be in to [email protected] by April 5, 2019.
