Amy Hammersmith

Amy is proud to be the daughter and granddaughter of former members of the teacher's union, steelworker's union and ironworker's union.  She has acted as a delegate in her own union for many years and was happy to serve as unit chair of her LSSA 2320 unit for two terms.  An attorney at Legal Services NYC since 2005, Amy strives to provide low income communities and individuals with legal representation and education as part of the broader fight against structural inequality.  She has worked primarily in the housing and foreclosure units, and helped to pilot a housing discrimination project in the Queens shop.  Prior to law school, Amy worked as an organizer for environmental justice in Philadelphia. She currently serves as the Recording Secretary of the NOLSW NEB.
