Day 9 - Bargaining Update

Good afternoon Brothers and Sisters,

Today was the day! After receiving a comprehensive response from the company on noneconomics yesterday (not agreed to yet), the Union presented its full economic package today.

Local President Ben Wilcox opened by laying out the costs and hardships our members have endured during the current contract - 21% inflation, massive shifts in healthcare costs from the company on to our members, wages below other UAW aerospace plants doing the same work - all while the company made $680 million in profits from our work during the same five years.

The bargaining committee delivered the message that our members clearly gave us through surveys and membership meetings - our members have to have an agreement that delivers industry leading wages, protection against historic inflation, affordable healthcare, no concessions, and real job security.

These are the topics the Union proposed/made improvements on:

  • Industry Leading Wages
  • Cost of Living for protection against inflation (COLA)
  • Profit Share
  • Safety Shoe Reimbursement
  • Vacation/PTO
  • Holidays
  • Bereavement
  • Perfect-Attendance Bonus
  • 401k
  • Shift Premium

Next week we have an expert from the UAW to present on healthcare.

As you can see, the solidarity this Union has shown this year has empowered us to make strong proposals to win back what we’ve lost, and make progress to improve our members’ lives. The Union is here to bargain, but the company doesn’t want to give us anything and it will take all of us to win a great agreement.

Please watch this video of our members laying out what this year is all about for our Union. https://youtube.com/shorts/_-DwT8EymQY?is=9zUnPz8ScmDt8Y_s

In Solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee
