Day 13 - Daily Bargaining Update - 10/22/2026

Good afternoon Brothers and Sisters,
Today was a very positive day at the bargaining table. After the strong show of strength from our membership this week, and our clear communication to the company that we need to make progress on our members’ core issues, the company did indeed show up today with a major proposal on healthcare.
The UAW healthcare experts are assessing the company’s numbers but it looks like the company is hearing our message that healthcare is a major issue for our members and needs to be more affordable. At first glance, it looks like we are on path to secure lower costs on healthcare in this bargaining cycle. More details to come after we assess the numbers more. There is more work to be done on healthcare but this is a great starting point and good progress.
Tomorrow, the company intends to finally share more of its economic proposals and we hope they continue to make progress on our members’ core demands:
- Affordable Healthcare
- Industry Leading Wages
- CoLA (inflation protection)
- Job Security
- No Concessions
The Union then intends to analyze the company’s proposals and work on the next package of counter proposals.
We also have our strike authorization vote tomorrow and Saturday recommend everyone turn out and vote YES to go into the final week to win a great contract this year.
We are attaching an FAQ with common questions about strikes and strike benefits. Please reach out to your Union leaders with questions. This year is different and we want our members to have all the information they need.
In Solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee
