Day 3 - 10/06/2026 - Daily Bargaining Update

Brothers & Sisters
We finished day three of bargaining on non-economics with the company. Here is the update.
First and foremost, we want to celebrate successes - based on your actions and all the red shirts in the plant, the company is definitely starting to see that this year is different! That support from our membership had a direct effect on the table and we felt it - the company withdrew some insulting proposals like deleting language that requires the company to discuss changes in working conditions, and their shift rebalancing proposal! That shift rebalancing proposal would have given the company the sole right to move people wherever they want whenever they want between shifts, but our solidarity backed it down.
Company also withdrew:
- Members losing seniority if they have a second job
- The company’s entire shift rebalancing changes
- Some proposals on filling jobs
We made a little progress on backing down the company’s all-out assault on our seniority rights.
And we even signed off on two small issues already. As we’ve always said the Union is here to negotiate and reach an agreement, as long as it doesn’t harm our members and meets our members core demands from the surveys.
But the company still has a lot of concessions on the table, including that the company wants to take away our flexible start times and go back to our original one start times: First Shift: 7am-3:30pm
Second Shift 3:30pm-Midnight
And the big red flag here is on Job Security. The members have been clear from the surveys and our conversations that job security is a top issue this year and the bargaining committee has been clear on that message to the company. But the company isn’t taking our job security seriously yet, and in fact gave a troubling indication that the company wants to give future buyers the flexibility to not recognize the Union. Our company was just sold last year - we can’t leave this negotiation with our members vulnerable to losing their union, their contract, their rights, and their jobs if and when another corporate sale happens. We need real Job Security and this is the year.
We have a lot of work still to do - we have to protect our seniority, our flexible start times, our transfer rights, and we need real job security. And then we get to economics next week. We need every member in the plant wearing red tomorrow to show solidarity and keep bargaining strong!
In Solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee
