We began bargaining non-economic proposals on August 25, 2025, and the employer already came after substantially important contract language that currently protects our working conditions. They claim that they need the language in order to have flexibility, but in reality, is not about flexibility, it’s about having full control over us without us having a voice. The employer’s current proposal is aggressive and represents the behavior of a non-union facility.

WE HAVE TO REMIND THEM THAT WE ARE A UNION SHOP AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO STAND FOR THIS!

These are some unacceptable highlights of the employer’s proposals:

  • Twelve (12) hours rotating schedule with two (2) weeks’ notice.

  • They want to move labor to any department without honoring classification and also have contractors and salary workers perform bargaining unit work.

  • Regarding the bidding process, if you bid on a job the company wants to lock you in for two (2) years before you can bid again. The employer wants to take your rights from withdrawing your bid even after waiting (30) days.

  • We proposed language on health & safety and outsourcing to protect jobs from being replaced by automation and robotics, which the company rejected.
